A Reading Surprise

At the end of September 2006 we commissioned a house designed by Mel Ranic at M2 Design; one of the finest properties we have seen. Lovely internal proportions, coupled with the best materials and finishes were used to complete this stunning development.

Introduced late to this project, certain aspects became a challenge for Greentec. It is always preferable to be involved at the design stages of any build. This allows us to provide the correct measurements for the equipment we recommend. For example, one component for this house was the installation of a Heat Recovery Ventilation system with summer Comfort Cooling. Due to the size of the property, the ventilation control box required measures 2 metres by 1.5metres - something that had not been accounted for, and left our engineers a very small space to install the equipment.

The house was fitted with the following equipment:

  • 20Kw NIBE Heat Pump System with two 400m ground loops
  • 450Ltr Hot water tank
  • Heat Recovery Ventilation System
  • Full under-floor heating with two radiators on the top floor
  • Manual Cooling System

One of the features of the Heat Pump is a screed drying mode which very gradually heats up to 40 degrees then, after a certain period, cools down; ideal screed drying temperatures.

The owner of the property is a developer himself and is now specifying a Greentec System for all his new projects. “Now we’ve seen first hand one of these systems working, my company, Shelby Homes, want to use Greentec’s technology and build energy-efficient houses, there really aren’t any losers."
