Our Greentec System supplies new homes with all their heating and hot water, 24 hours a day. It can also provide various cooling options for those hot summer days and nights. Our fully automated system filters and cleans the fresh air entering the property, removes old stale air and controls the home's humidity levels. All this can cost as little as £1 per square metre a year to run in an appropriately-insulated house and reduces the carbon footprint by as much as 70%.
All new homes fitted with a Greentec System have as standard a Heat Pump, Under Floor Heating and a Heat Recovery Ventilation system; the house itself should be as airtight as possible. The result is a greatly reduced carbon footprint compared to a conventional heating system. Here's how:
For every 1kW used to power the Heat Pump, it produces more than 4kW of heat. Compare that to the best modern condensing gas boilers, which run at around 90% efficiency - so for every 1kW they produce, only .9kW is usable. As an added bonus, the Heat Pump produces no local CO2 emissions. Oil- and LPG-fired boilers lag miles behind gas boilers in terms of efficiency.
Under Floor Heating needs lower-temperature hot water than a radiator-based system - a maximum of 40°C in the coldest weather, compared to the 65-70°C of radiators. That's great for Heat Pumps because the lower the temperature required, the more efficiently they run. And Under Floor Heating is invariably buried under a concrete screed, which itself acts as a huge heat store, further increasing efficiency.
Standard houses are fitted with trickle vents to let the house breathe; we do away with them in favour of mechanical ventilation - but rather than just dump the heat in the extract air, we recover it and feed it back into the incoming air via a heat exchanger, a no-cost operation. Doing this saves approximately 20% of a house's annual heating bill. And, as ever, there's a further bonus - feeding filtered air into a house confers great health benefits.
