When creating heat, a Heat Pump also creates cold; the temperature of the fluid going back into the borehole is typically below 5ºC. During hotter weather, we use this coolant to lower the temperature of incoming fresh air as it passes through our ventilation system. This is known as passive cooling (we call it Comfort Cooling); all it costs is the price of running a circulation pump. And Greentec have sourced a pump that costs less than 4 pence a day to run; that's all it costs to supply cooled air to your house. This feature is most noticeable on sweltering summer nights when you are trying to sleep in temperatures of 16ºC+.
On the hottest of days, when Comfort Cooling is not sufficient to cool your property, we can use the Heat Pump to create more coolant. Using a further piece of equipment this can all be automated, keeping the property at its ideal temperature all year round.
