Another gorgeous property; this timber-framed development has been built using traditional materials with stunning effect. Greentec’s services were called on very late into the development, but our engineers overcame the challenges encountered when joining the project late.
Greentec has installed a number of new technologies into this property. The owners, Mr and Mrs B, were extremely hands-on and allowed Greentec to experiment with a number of integration ideas we have developed. The outcome is an extremely efficient property, which in the summer is cooled by the Greentec Comfort Cooling system. This effect is provided through the ventilation system and by cooling the fabric of the house via under-floor pipes. These same pipes also provide the central heating for the property during the winter.
During the winter months, the ventilation system also sends warm, filtered air to each of the living areas, whilst used air is removed from the wet areas. The used air leaving the property warms the air supply into the house; the two airflows do not actually mix but pass through a heat exchanger. Used in conjunction with the heated floors, the house is perfectly warm during the colder months.
Another challenge was installing the ground collectors/loops; this property was built in the garden of another house, leaving our engineers with a very small area to install 800m of ground loops. It took an imaginative approach but we managed by installing the loops all the way around the property and then on top of each other. “One issue a lot people have is they think they don’t have enough land to install ground loops”, explains Lee, our Operations Director. “Leave that to us - we haven’t been beaten yet!” If there really isn't enough land, we have further options in Exhaust Air and External Heat Pumps.
